John A. Canning, Jr., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
- A.B., Denison University; J.D., Duke University. Prior to co-founding MDP, Mr. Canning spent 24 years with First Chicago Corporation, most recently as Executive Vice President of The First National Bank of Chicago and President of First Chicago Venture Capital. Mr. Canning has more than 29 years of experience in private equity investing and currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Exelon Corporation, Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and Children’s Inner City Educational Fund; on the Boards of Trustees of the Big Shoulders Fund, Museum of Science and Industry, and Northwestern University. Mr. Canning is also a Commissioner of the Irish Pension Reserve Fund, a Trustee and Chairman of The Chicago Community Trust, a Trustee and Chairman of The Field Museum, and former Director and Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.
Paul J. Finnegan, Co-President
- A.B., Harvard College; M.B.A., Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. Prior to co-founding Madison Dearborn Partners, Mr. Finnegan was with First Chicago Venture Capital for ten years. Previously, he held a variety of marketing positions in the publishing industry, both in the United States and in Southeast Asia. Mr. Finnegan has more than 27 years of experience in private equity investing with a particular focus on investments in the communications industry. Mr. Finnegan is a member of the Board of Overseers of Harvard College and Past President of the Harvard Alumni Association. He is also a member of the Board of Dean's Advisors at the Harvard Business School and of the Leadership Council of the Harvard School of Public Health. Mr. Finnegan is a member of the Board of Directors of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. He is the Chairman of Teach For America in Chicago, a member of Teach For America's National Board, and the Chairman of the Community Works Advisory Committee of the Evanston Community Foundation.

Samuel M. Mencoff, Co-President
- A.B., Brown University; M.B.A., Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. Prior to co-founding MDP, Mr. Mencoff was with First Chicago Venture Capital for 11 years. Mr. Mencoff has more than 28 years of experience in private equity investing with a particular focus on investments in the basic industries sector. He currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Boise Cascade Corporation, Packaging Corporation of America, and Smurfit Kappa Group Limited. Mr. Mencoff is a Trustee Emeritus and a member of the Board of Fellows of Brown University, a Trustee of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Director of NorthShore University HealthSystem, where he serves as Chairman of the Investment Committee.
Nicholas W. Alexos, Managing Director
- C.P.A., B.B.A., Loyola University; M.B.A., University of Chicago. Prior to co-founding MDP, Mr. Alexos was with First Chicago Venture Capital for four years. Previously, he was with The First National Bank of Chicago. Mr. Alexos focuses on transactions that are in the healthcare sector and currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Sirona Dental Systems, Inc. and VWR International, Inc. Mr. Alexos also is involved with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Chicago as a Board of Trustee, the Children's Inner City Educational Fund, and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business Council.

Benjamin D. Chereskin, Managing Director
- A.B., Harvard College; M.B.A., Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. Prior to co-founding MDP, Mr. Chereskin was with First Chicago Venture Capital for nine years. His prior experience includes a variety of positions at White Properties Corporation. Mr. Chereskin concentrates on investments in the consumer sector and currently serves on the Boards of Directors of BF Bolthouse Holdco LLC, CDW Corporation, Cinemark, Inc., L.A. Fitness International, LLC, Tuesday Morning Corporation, the University of Chicago Laboratory School, KIPP: LEAD College Prep Charter School and on the Board of Trustees of the University of Chicago Medical Center.
Timothy M. Hurd, Managing Director
- B.A., University of Michigan; M.B.A., Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. Prior to joining MDP, Mr. Hurd was with Goldman, Sachs & Co. Mr. Hurd concentrates on investments in the financial services sector and currently serves on the Boards of Directors of CapitalSource Inc., Nuveen Investments, Inc., the CFA Society of Chicago, Children's Memorial Foundation, and the Endowment & Investment Committee of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

David F. Mosher, Managing Director
- B.S., M.B.A., Babson College. Prior to co-founding MDP, Mr. Mosher was with First Chicago Venture Capital for nine years focusing on investments in the consumer sector. Previously, he held a variety of finance and marketing positions with Teradyne, Inc. and Texas Instruments, Inc. Mr. Mosher has more than 25 years of experience in private equity and at MDP provides oversight to all of the firm's non-investment areas.
James N. Perry, Jr., Managing Director
- B.A., University of Pennsylvania; M.B.A., University of Chicago. Prior to co-founding MDP, Mr. Perry was with First Chicago Venture Capital for eight years. Previously, he was with The First National Bank of Chicago. Mr. Perry concentrates on investments in the communications industry and currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Asurion Corporation, Cbeyond, Inc., MetroPCS Communications, Inc., NextG Networks, Inc., Sorenson Communications Holdings, LLC, The Topps Company, Inc., Univision Communications Inc., and Chicago Public Radio.

Robin P. Selati, Managing Director

Mr. Selati concentrates on investments in the consumer sector and currently serves on the Boards of Directors of BF Bolthouse Holdco LLC, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Inc., and The Yankee Candle Company, Inc.
Thomas S. Souleles, Managing Director

Timothy P. Sullivan, Managing Director

Prior to co-founding Madison Dearborn Partners, Mr. Sullivan was with First Chicago Venture Capital for three years after having served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Sullivan concentrates on investments in the healthcare sector and currently also serves on the Boards of Directors of Sirona Dental Systems, Inc. and VWR International, LLC. In addition, he is on the Board of Trustees of the Archdiocese of Chicago Investment Committee, Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, Northlight Theatre, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Northwestern University and Stanford Business School Trust.
Mark B. Tresnowski, Managing Director and General Counsel
- C.P.A., B.A., University of Illinois; J.D., University of Virginia School of Law. Prior to joining MDP, Mr. Tresnowski was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, a firm he had been with from 1986 through 1999 and rejoined in August 2004 after having served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Allegiance Telecom Inc., a nationwide competitive local exchange carrier and portfolio company of MDCPII, from 1999 through 2004. Mr. Tresnowski is on the Boards of Directors of Nuveen Investments, Inc., US Power Generating Company, and on The Board of Trustees of The Children's Home + Aid.

Paul R. Wood, Managing Director
- B.S., University of Illinois; M.B.A., Columbia Graduate School of Business Administration. Prior to co-founding MDP, Mr. Wood was with First Chicago Venture Capital for nine years. Previously, he spent six years with the venture capital unit of Continental Illinois Bank. Mr. Wood works on transactions across all of the firm’s industry sectors and currently serves on the Boards of Directors of CapitalSource Inc., Hines Horticulture, Inc. and Outsourcing Solutions Inc.; and a trustee and Chairman of the Fiscal Committee of the Children’s Home and Aid Society.
